I’m Sharmila, born in Andharmanick – P.S. Baduria – 24 Parganas(North) – West Bengal India. I am an Aries – B’day on 26 March. Studied in many different countries as my father is in the “Ministry of External Affairs”.
Started schooling in “St. Peter’s High School”- Pakistan(Karachi) – school was a nightmare, very-very strict. Grade 7-8-9 and half of 10 did in “St.Georges English School” - Italy(Rome). It was wonderful – both the school and the place. Enjoyed everyday of our Stay. Did my 11th and 12th from “Durban Girls’ High School” – South Africa(Durban). Very memorable years of my life – absolutely beautiful..
Did my graduation from Delhi University(corresponding). Recently opened my Boutique. In my Boutique – I love to create patch work on “kurtas” which gives it a fresh look.
Beside creating new designs – i love photography, music, traveling, poetry, books and rain.
In music – i love 70s & 80s hindi songs. My Favourites – R.D.Burman – Gulzar ji (they form a GREAT combination), Hemanto Mukhopadhyay, Lata ji. I also love “Rabindro Sangeet” – nothing can be so soothing n mesmerizing.
I love Italy (Rome) – i would love to go there again. Love the architacture – people – food – weather … actually everything about Rome is simply “wow”. At that point of time i was not interested in photography- otherwise i would have some great picture of Rome and Venice.
My Bengali is not so good – still i love to read Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay (his descriptions are superb), Satyajit Ray (but read only translated version – i only thought him a great director but he was a excellent writer too). Anita Nair, Ruskin Bond, R. K. Narayana (my all time favourite),Vikram Seth.
I love to write poems – i get inspired by rain or monsoon season. Every thing looks so fresh and so romantic… i just love it.
Thanks Sharmila for visting my blog. You background sounds very interesting. I am not a bengali by birth but I have spent the first seventeen years of my life there. I speak read and write Bangla very well. I love Satyajit Ray particularly those that have Soumitro in them. Also love Gulzar, RD and Hemonto!
